As part of the Heritage Lottery funded East Wight ‘Down to the Coast’ project, Timetaxi CIC – the Island’s community interest company for heritage – are working to support Islanders in engaging with their local heritage and historic buildings.
Timetaxi has launched an art and photography competition to help raise awareness of architectural heritage on the East side of the Island. Entries showing the East Wight’s historic buildings are being invited with the first prize of a £30 Amazon voucher up for grabs.
Digital entries can be submitted to [email protected] or dropped in to participating libraries, parish council offices and schools in the East Wight by 16th November. The competition is open to all ages and abilities and should include your name, age, contact details and the address of the building.
The launch of the competition coincides with the publication of Historic England’s annual survey which continues to evidence how important heritage is to well being and quality of life. The national survey suggest that 47% of young people aged 18-24 are interested or very interested in their local heritage and 80% of people think local heritage makes their area a better place to live.
