The sudden closure of Brading High Street is resulting in significant diversions for motorists this evening (Thursday), including local buses.
Southern Vectis is advising customers that Route 3 services are currently unable to serve Brading and will divert via Bembridge and St Helens in both directions.
It’s said that the road has been closed ‘without notice’.
The road is advertised as being closed for 1 evening on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday next week, between the hours of 19:30 and 23:00 only.
It is currently unclear why the road has been closed and whether it is considered emergency works and it’s unknown when the road will re-open.
UPDATE @ 22:10 – Brading High Street is now open to traffic, confirms Southern Vectis.
Island Road strike again!
You mean Bodge – It & Sod – It
Or, their partners: Bodg-it and scarper !
Nothing to do with Island Roads, but hey why let the facts get in the way of a good story?
Don’t all road works/closures have to go through Islands Roads? Or can anybody stick up a road closed sign?
Probably like the pothole that they’ve known about in my road for six months but for some reason didn’t warrant any notice when they finally closed the road to fix it declaring it to be “emergency works”.
They know they’re untouchable so are hardly even bothering to pay lip service to the rules any more.
