The Cowes Floating Bridge will once again be taken out of service this week to enable planned maintenance to take place.
Work will be undertaken on Wednesday to ensure noise levels are mitigated, as well as replacement works to a damage shoe on the west prow. ‘Cheek plates’ will also be replaced.
The troubled vessel will be out of service between 09:30 and 15:30 tomorrow.
A foot passenger launch service will be in operation as normal.
The Isle of Wight Council has started legal action against those behind Floating Bridge No.6.
Why don’t they do the plane maintenance when its Brocken down. Then you won’t need to stop it when its actually working.
This is the council we are talking about if they did that it wouldn’t disrupt anyone.
Because no one plans for the thing to break down. You can’t plan maintenance if you don’t know when it can happen.
I think you might be missing the point and meaning of “maintenance”. Not that it would make any difference to the muppets at County Hall.
It might make more sense to advertise when it IS working!

Just build a bridge from east to west , dismantle this pile of junk and sell for scrap and the idiots responsible for this farce should go as well. A fixed link was proposed years ago but never acted upon . You couldn’t make this up – it’s like a Brian Rix farce. (Google Brian Rix if you’ve never heard of him)

The trouble is that it’s the bean counters and jacks-in-office at County Hall, all unelected time servers. You can’t get rid of them – the Union says so!

I was going to voice my opinion, except for one thing stopped me.
They do not care what the public say or think about them.
True enough, they just want a nice big fat pension so they can feather their nests and enjoy their retirement.
So whoever gets in will still put council tax up because it top’s their pension scheme up nicely.
