All older residents living in care homes across the Isle of Wight have now been offered a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Government.
More than 10,000 care homes across the country have been visited by health professionals with residents offered the potentially life-saving vaccine. However, a small number of homes where an outbreak has occurred will have to wait a little while longer for their first dose.
The majority of staff working in the care sector have also been offered a vaccine. It’s known that on the Isle of Wight over 7,000 health and social care staff have been inoculated to date.
Sadly, a further 24 care home deaths have been recorded on the Island – a dramatic rise compared to recent months. It takes the total number of COVID deaths on the Isle of Wight since the start of the pandemic to 203.
In total, more than 9.3million people across the UK have now received their first vaccine dose – with things on track to reach the 15th February target set by the Government, paving the way for the country to be unlocked in early March.
It is currently unknown how many vaccinations have taken place on the Isle of Wight alone, but it is known that across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight over 266,000 people have now received their first dose.

I wonder how many rich have bi-passed the system and paid for their treatment already. Can you imagine the wealthy queueing with the dregs of society waiting. I can’t.
Would you actually take this vaccine though? I think I will take my chances surviving a minor flu with a 99.9 % survival rate over being injected with God knows what.
and maybe YOU are one of the one’s carrying it and passing it on to others… don’t think of other people… or your family, if any…
covid is never, ever going away – it will be managed as we move forward just like flu is now – get used to covid being a permanent feature of life now.
well said ventnor richard – the swiss regulator has said today they won’t approve these vaccines yet – not enough data – and switzerland spends more on healthcare than most others.
God knows what you say. Dear oh dear another uneducated person. A totally tested vaccine is what it is. Please do not argue with that as you obviously do not have the knowledge of the vaccine to do so.
” I wonder how many rich have bi-passed the system and paid for their treatment already”. NONE it is not available for sale, it is not available privately so your comment is worthless.
Are our armed services classed as vital and therefore vaccinated early on ‘Johnsons list’?
For IF threats, to the UK happen we will need this guys
