Thousands of people slapped on the sun cream, donned their hats and made their way to the South of the Island over the weekend to enjoy the 92nd Chale Show.
The annual event, held off Military Road, once again proved to be a firm favourite with Islanders and visitors alike with bumper numbers seen passing through the gates.
Entries to the traditional horticultural show remained strong with everything from plants to photographs, cakes to Lego creations. That was of course accompanied by a packed weekend of entertainment, traction engine displays, fairground rides and plenty of local stalls and produce.
The show’s neighbours Blackgang Chine are celebrating their 175th year in 2018 and to mark the special occasion classes were introduced to the horticultural competition, accompanied by an amazing history inspired display.
Main arena acts did not fail to impress with stunt demonstrations from the likes of Imps Motorcycle Display Team and Savage Skills. Show visitors were given the opportunity to get involved with performances from South Coast Falconry Display and as always the Marching Band went down well with all ages.
The Sunflower Live Music Stage was again raising money for Mountbatten IW with the likes of Sam Sheasby, Lucid, Daisy & Olllie, Timeless, Silvertone, The Outfit and Blackfoot Daisy all performing.
