Cowes-based initiative, Frontline, has received a £500 grant in Police Mutual’s national community sponsorship programme, Force for Good.
Retired Roads Policing Unit Sergeant for the Hampshire Constabulary, Michele Ling, nominated Frontline where she worked for 2 years following retirement from the Force; before recently becoming a student nurse.
Run by Elin Williams, Frontline is a debt and advice centre founded 28 years ago by locals to help alleviate the effects of poverty and debt on people on the Isle of Wight.
Elin says:
“Frontline supports locals in three different ways: debt management assistance, budgeting advice and support for benefit applications. Many people who seek help and support from Frontline are bombarded with letters, bailiffs and telephone calls from creditors.
“Our charity strives to provide hope, reassurance and kindness to the local community”.
Michele has added:
“Police Mutual’s grant money will pay for the essential administrative costs of running Frontline, primarily telephone bills for negotiating with debt companies and bailiffs on behalf of those in need”.
