The British Heart Foundation have donated 5 defibrillators for use in the West Wight, thanks to a joint application by The Needles National Coastwatch, Totland Parish Council, Freshwater Parish Council and the support of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Although the locations for the new defibrillators is yet to be confirmed, work is underway to formalise permission from property owners.
The grant also includes training for local volunteers on the use of these life-saving machines.
With 4 defibs already in the area at Freshwater Lifeboat Station, The Co-Operative, West Wight Sports Centre and Eden House Care Home, the addition of 5 new machines should make the area a little safer for residents and visitors.
