Ventnor has this week welcomed the opening of its very own Tea House – home to The Events Co., an island run, island formed events company specialising in weddings and island events.
Khia Janzen, founder of The Events Co. felt that it was about time that their profitable company began giving back to the community in a bigger way and so The Tea House was born.
The shop opened on Saturday (16th July), with local visitors sampling their array of blended loose leaf teas, Teapig teas and Island Roasted coffee. Since their initial opening the shop has been stocked full of tea and cake lovers.
Khia said:
“We have always aimed to use as much Island produce as possible within The Events Co. and we aim to continue this theme in The Tea House. I think it’s really important to support local business which is why we will not only be using island teas, coffees and home baked goods, but we will also plan be stocking Island gin and vodka to serve in a range of tantalising tea infusions.”
A big launch party will take place on Saturday 23rd July and will see guest appearances from Ventnor based music duo, The Ventnor Darlings complemented by an assortment of vinyl records playing throughout the night. This night will commence with a Prosecco reception accompanied by an assortment of baked goods and tea infusions available throughout the evening.
One of most notable features when walking into The Tea House is the beautiful floral illustration on the wall. Local designer and illustrator, Katy-Rose Designs has been working with The Events Co. over the last year and will be working from the shop as their in-house designer.
The Tea House are very interested to showcase local work within their shop, selling all manner of oddities as well as vintage knick-knacks and clothes in the coming months.

“It’s great to have a hub for my art work with such great likeminded people. We like to think of Ventnor as creative central of the island, as I’m sure many others in their Island towns do, and couldn’t think of a better place to open up shop”.
The family run tea house aim to reinvigorate the classic tea shop, by incorporating influence from routes in Holland, Italy, London and the Isle of Wight. Their interior design is a combination of vintage industrial London chic and the quaint British tea shop.
The Tea House is open Monday-Saturday 08:00-18:00 every week.
