Staff and students from UKSA recently attended the Isle of Wight College Celebration day, with student Charlie Scriver being awarded the prestigious Student of the Year accolade.
The celebration day, hosted by the College at the Cowes Event Centre, saw a total of 3 UKSA students and 3 UKSA staff collecting awards for their achievements.
Further Education Students; Charlie Scriver (Introduction to Outdoor and Physical Activities Level 1), Harry Hopper (Sport and Physical Activities Level 3) and Harrison Matthews (Sport and Physical Activities Level 3) all received awards for their commitment to their studies and resultant achievements.
Speaking of Charlie’s Student of the Year award, Aaron Wright, Senior Education Tutor said:
“Charlie has grown in confidence and self-belief over the last year. His attendance has been 100% and his attitude has always remained positive. He has taken active decisions to enable him to focus on his studies at UKSA and in doing so submitted some truly impressive work.”
The 3 members of staff graduated in a Certificate of Education at the event, whilst wearing the traditional cap and gown. The 3 staff: Tom Evans, Laura Michael and William Satterly, studied for the Certificate over the last two years alongside their full-time teaching roles at UKSA.
Aaron Wright added:
“Tom, Laura and William have worked tirelessly in order to achieve this. They have worked alongside their day-to-day roles, evenings and on a number of different research tasks and difficult assignments.”
Ben Willows, CEO at UKSA, said:
“The learners this year have shown real motivation and dedication to their academic studies; with higher than national average grades being achieved and 100% progression from UKSA into the industry and/or further training and development. This goes to show the effectiveness and positive impact programmes at UKSA have in developing people for the future.”
