The Island’s new High Sheriff Robin Courage visited the Isle of Wight Police Cadets Ryde unit this week.
The 40 strong group of Cadets, under their Unit Leader Dave Dovey and Deputy Leader Sue Howatt meet weekly on the site of the old Haylands School in Ryde and last Wednesday provided the High Sheriff with an imprssive display of marching prior to him inspecting the troopy and giving them a brief history o the Shrievalty.
Robin Courage said:
“As the Sovereign’s representative on the Island for matters pertaining to civil law and order I was delighted to learn more about the wonderful work of this relatively new unit of Police cadets. They are a highly motivated and dedication group of young boys and girls who are learning about th work of the police at an early age and may even go on to join the force in later years.
“I am delighted to champions their cause”.
The Police Cadets have committed t play a prominent part in the celebrations on Isle of Wight Day on 24th September this year and will be part of a major parade being planned for the day.
