A group of 18 paramedics are undertaking a 4 day trek around the Isle of Wight in aid of The Lily Foundation and Papyrus, a national charity for preventing young suicide.
The charity fundraisers from the South East Coast Ambulance Service have today (Monday) begun their challenge, which will see them walk from The Needles to St Lawrence. Each day they will be walking up to 20 miles.
Tomorrow will see the group venture from St Lawrence to Ryde, Ryde to Shalfleet on Wednesday and Thursday will take them from Shalfleet to The Needles.
The Lily Foundation was set up following the sad death of 8-month-old Lily, who lost her life to Mitochondrial Disease. The foundation was set up to fund research, provide support and ultimately find a cure. Meanwhile the group’s second chosen charity, Papyrus, provide confidential help and advice to young people and anyone worried about a young person to help prevent young suicide.
