A new group of entrepreneurs, community activists and business people who are committed to developing strong, sustainable economic communities on the Isle of Wight with a social, ethical and green perspective has been formed – the Isle of Wight Green Dragons.
Green Dragons will offer mentoring, access to their own networks, and possible investment. Events will be held throughout the year to showcase local initiatives, link up-and-coming social entrepreneurs to sources of finance, and provide support and training. Founders of the Green Dragons are members of the Isle of Wight Green Party.
Next week, the Green Dragons will host the visit of several investors and funders to the Island, with a public event on Wednesday 18th May at Aspire Ryde, Dover Street, Ryde from 11:00 until 15:30. All local people are welcome, whether they have a green business or social enterprise idea, or are looking for new opportunities.
The ‘Green & Social Investment Showcase’ will provide the opportunity for local people to meet finance and funding organisations Social & Sustainable Capital, Triodos Bank and the Big Lottery Fund. There will also be presentations by social entrepreneurs and activists, business networking and free workshops.
To book a free place for the 18th May event, attendees should RSVP to [email protected].
