Funeral Co-ordinator Lesley Borton, who works for The Southern Co-operative Funeralcare in East Cowes, completed a tandem parachute jump last Wednesday in aid of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
Lesley, 52, completed her first sky dive last year, jumping in aid of the Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat. After fulfilling this ambition she decided to undertake another 9,000ft tandem skydive this year, and even managed to convince a few friends to come along for the plunge.
Raising money for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, a cause important to the community, Lesley said:
“I don’t think there are any residents on the island who have not at least heard of someone who has needed the support or help of the Air Ambulance. The jump was amazing, I felt like a bouncing budgerigar when it was over, the adrenaline was amazing!”
Once back on solid ground Lesley suggested she is already thinking about what her next fundraising extreme sport will be – abseiling the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.
Lesley has already beaten her £200 fundraising target by raising just over £300 with all proceeds going to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, but hopes to raise a lot more.
You can still donate to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to support Lesley’s skydive through her Just Giving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lesley-borton.
