Staff at Wightlink Ferries were quick to act when they heard that David, an elderly gentleman with learning difficulties, was a devoted fan of the ships on the Yarmouth to Lymington route and dreamed of travelling across the Solent.
Captain Dave Ellis and his crew were delighted to welcome the 76-year-old from Westview House, Totland on board Wight Light for a round trip to Lymington and treated him to tea and biscuits during the journey. He was accompanied by carers Alicia Smith and Georgie Ray.
Westview House carer Jade Shaw says:
“I really can’t say thank you enough. David had the most amazing morning, he hasn’t stopped talking about it yet. You couldn’t have made him feel more special and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
“We are pleased he enjoyed his morning on the sea with Wightlink on a lovely summer’s day,” says Captain Dave. “We believe the sailing from Yarmouth to Lymington is one of the most beautiful ferry journeys in the world and there’s always something to see from our ships”.
