The success of a sell-out ladies lunch and fashion show held at the Island Sailing Club has helped raise vital funds to support patient and family care at Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
Outfits for the show were selected from The Old Smithy in Godshill, who are keen supporters of the Hospice and its work. The fashion show proved very popular, according to organiser and Island Sailing Club member Ingrid Cooke, who said:
“The Old Smithy has such a variety of lovely clothing and it was they who suggested we might like to think of supporting Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
“There were 100 people who came to the lunch and fashion show in April and tickets sold out, just like that! It was a great success and I’m glad to say it worked really very well”.
A total of £422 was raised by the event, which was presented by Ingrid and Jane Cross from the Old Smithy yesterday (Wednesday). Ingrid, who had come to the Hospice for the first time, said of the visit:
“I thought it was just incredibly surprising, so lovely and light with a wonderful garden and children’s play area. A really big surprise!”
