A couple who met whilst working at The Needles back in 1996 have returned to the Isle of Wight attraction to renew their wedding vows.
Simon and Caroline Pope from Freshwater have been married for 15 years and met when Simon started working at The Needles as a chef.
Caroline, a catering supervisor at the landmark attraction between 1987 and 1999 left her job at The Needles when she was expecting the couple’s first baby.
The couple invited former colleagues Marino Zanti, The Needles’ general manager, and Gavin Pullman, The Needles’ catering manager, to take part in the ceremony.
With friends and family gathered around, Gavin presided over the renewal of vowels ceremony, reading a speech from Simon and Caroline who’d had new rings and a cake made for the occasion.
Marino Zanti, general manager at The Needles Landmark Attraction, said:
“It was wonderful to have had the chance to host our good friends and former colleagues as they renewed their wedding vows.
“We value staff relations very highly at The Needles and so we were delighted to be asked to be a part of the ceremony.
“Simon and Caroline are a fantastic couple and I’d like to join with all the staff at The Needles in wishing them all the best. We look forward to welcoming them back in another 15 years’ time to help them celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.”
