davidwilsonhomesmacmillancoffeemorningCakes, coffee and a chat with the neighbours have helped local housebuilder David Wilson Homes raise more than £680 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The housebuilder put the kettle on at its Riverside development in Whippingham on Saturday as part of The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, inviting residents, neighbours and staff to join for a morning of socialising.

Now the company has totted up the total and the event contributed to an impressive £687 raised by David Wilson Homes in the area.

Sales director Michelle Storer said the Macmillan coffee morning is a key date in the fundraising calendar and that the company always looks forward to joining in with the fundraising efforts.

“Cancer touches so many people’s lives and the coffee morning is a great way for everyone to get involved in the fundraising effort,’’ said Michelle. “It’s also a brilliant way to bring people together at our new communities. There’s nothing like getting to know your neighbours over a cuppa.”

David Wilson Homes staff channeled their inner bake off champions as part of the event. Employees from the company created cakes, which were sold at the coffee morning with the proceeds going to Macmillan.
