Cineworld in Newport raised over £200 for Children in Need on Saturday by hosting a cake sale – and there are even more events in the pipeline.

Scrummy cakes were donated by Hannah’s Cakes (Cowes), Frostbite Bakery (Shanklin) and Scarrots Lane Bakery (Newport). Staff members also took the time to bake for the sale.

Next month members of staff at the Newport cinema are planning to walk around the Island in 24 hours. This will take place on Monday 7th November starting at 22:00. Anybody who wishes to sponsors the team can do so via the Just Giving page at https://www.justgiving.com/teams/cineworldisleofwight.

That is not all for Cineworld’s fundraising calendar… From Friday (14th October) until Sunday 30th October, staff face the challenge of riding the length of each Cineworld cinema – from one to the next. This equates to nearly 2,500 miles (140 each day).

Staff members will be taking part, but customers can also help reach the target. They can pay £2 to take up the challenge for how ever many miles they can reach. There will be a prize for the customer who can reach the most miles on their go.

More information about of the cinema’s event will be on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CineworldIOW.
