This coming Saturday (9th July) will see Islander Ben Allen donning his Star Wars stormtrooper armour to start his 245km, 7-day walk from St James Square in Newport to London – a journey that will take Ben through the New Forest, into Salisbury, up to Stonehenge, through Hampshire and Surrey and then, after a respite at Heathrow, into central London.
The walk is being sponsored by Island communications company WightFibre, who have donated an amazing £1,000 to the fundraising efforts. Over 60 other supporters have also donated through the JustGiving website with £2,700 already raised against a target of £2,500 for the Joe Ellis Trust, the charity that supports children with cancer.
To donate to the Imperial March, visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bensimperialmarch.
The start of the walk will be at 11:00 in Newport which will see Ben and members of the Vectis Remnant Squad, a group of passionate Star Wars enthusiasts, on parade. Darth Vader is also expected to be attending to see Ben start his courageous walk.
Everyone is encouraged to join Ben on Saturday for what will be a fantastic opportunity for kids and adults to see their favourite Star Wars Characters and to cheer Ben on at the start of this epic walk.
WightFibre is well known on the Island for their Charitable work, which included a Charity premiere for the latest Star Wars film ‘The Force Awakens’ on the film’s release last December which raised over £3,000 for Island based Charity UKSA. An event held at Cineworld in Newport which included many from the Vectis Remnant Group, including Ben.
