It’s 2021 and it’s great to welcome you back to Island Echo.
Before Christmas, we turned off the ability to comment on individual articles published on the Island Echo website. This was to enable the team to have some time off over the festive period and to ensure a positive, safe and legal environment for all readers.
This morning we have re-enabled commenting on the website and you should now be able to comment as previously.
To date over 52,000 comments have been made on this website – a number that is certainly set to increase dramatically in 2021.

I really liked the “positive, safe and legal environment for all readers” with the commenting facility disabled.
Great to see comments back, however I do wonder how much free speech will be taken from posts on here.
Perhaps admin could inform us who makes the rules HMG or the Echo on what is ‘deemed’ to be suitable or unsuitable now?
I can understand the legal angle and victimisation etc, but just having strong alternate views surely is a right so long as not personal or legally able to cause a lawsuit?
Nice to be ‘nice’ but many views are valid when to the contrary of such views.
Remember the saying Admin, before banning some posts: “Just because you are ‘offended’ by what I say, that, that, in its self does not necessarily mean I am wrong in what I say”
Personally, I think having a festive break for some of the staff is only fair, but I have really missed the comments, Some are informative, some are stupid, some are amusing, but all are appreciated, so welcome back!
