A Ventnor man has been charged with drink driving after crashing a stolen people carrier into a garden near Bonchurch yesterday morning (Saturday).
22-year-old Robert Rowell, from Upper Ventnor, has been charged with 3 offences following the incident during the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police were called to Trinity Road shortly before 01:30 following reports that a VW Touran had ploughed into the front garden of a residential property.
Rowell was arrested and has now been charged with drink driving, taking a vehicle without consent (TWOC) and driving without insurance.
He will appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 5th January 2021.

Shame it walked after. As likely any other punishment will not prevent this low life, doing such, again, and perhaps killing a loved one of yours
Next time, which will happen, this cretin could kill your child or loved ones. Needs removing from society
So much for all the clowns who said this wouldn’t happen during the lockdown. The will drink whether the pubs are closed or not.
Ventnor, upper, will most likely be drugs.
Life for many is so stressful on these council estates they can’t help needing such. They have massive worries how to feed their children on only hundreds a week in child tax credits and child allowance, and a free or havily subsidised home and c.tax, whilst running two gas guzzling BMW’s, latest phone, massive TV, and cash for going out, drink, designer clothes, nails, eyelashes, spray tan and the other REAL essentials of life.
So go easy on them, as many have to deal or consume as life is so awful being paid to breed the next even more useless generation.
Haha .. very well said .. society needs to open its eyes to these scum and severely punish them for their actions . Stop trying to justify their wrongs .
Vile scum hope he gets hit hard in court ( but he won’t)
No, your right. He won’t get the punishment he deserves. CRETINS like this kill and mame innocent people. Shame he didn’t seriously injur himself to the point of being life changing!!!! Feel sorry for the person’s property he drive into.
Given his form no doubt as soon as he is released he will be stealing cars and driving again. Its a badge of honour. A VERY long custodial sentence is all these morons will understand.
Hope after his next accident the only thing it will travel in for the rest of time is a wheel chair. Filth like this care nothing if they were to cripple some innocent person, so a fitting punishment may give them a life time to think about their vile attitude to the innocent road users.
Well said………
They don’t even understand that… it’s just another badge of honor
Yep, no doubt bragging to all his mates what a ‘big man’ he is.
Even a long custodial sentence won’t change him. This type of behaviour is probably etched into his DNA. If not car stealing he will be drawn into some other unlawful and heinous crime by others like him. A misfortune waiting to happen.
