Southampton-based Tony Bunday is standing to become Hampshire and the Isle of Wight’s new Police and Crime Commissioner in the local elections on 6th May 2021.
The 62-year-old is a former health and social care manager and currently carries out inspections for the Care Quality Commission, the government’s regulator of health and social care services.
In a varied career, Tony got to understand first-hand the work of the Police and Criminal Justice system in Hampshire. He was a Youth Justice Officer in Basingstoke, managed a young offender team across Portsmouth and Havant, and managed mental health, forensic, homelessness, and substance misuse services in Southampton.
Tony believes this frontline knowledge and his experience as an inspector make him well qualified to oversee and monitor local police and criminal justice services.
During lockdown, Tony has been holding socially distanced meetings on police and crime issues with community groups and would be delighted to talk with more groups and individuals across the county.
He said:
“I want to see a police service which works for all communities. To do that we need to invest in more effective crime reduction measures, provide better support and resources for the police, and improve public access to police services.”
So, soft on criminals, would much rather see the victims locked up? Pass.
Another great useless, weak, benefit of the doubt type, who, because ‘they’ are highly paid, and live in crime free roads, and can afford to insure all their property fully, then don’t have to ‘worry’ about how many ‘chances’ they give criminals.
So long as they ‘keep’ those sent to jail numbers down to ‘please’ their master, then they will remain in their weak role of paying ‘lip service’ to crime, whilst the rest of us cower in fear as ‘real’ crime escalates.
Now the gullible are in charge they only employ more of the same, so can only get worse.
The role of Police and Crime Commissioner is pointless, unnecessary and expensive, adding a layer of burocracy for no benefit. The considerable costs of this non-function should be released to support front-line policing.
Perhaps Mr Bunday should consider standing for parliament or local government given his interests and experience?
Now unless you are pathetically weak on offenders, you have no chance of having any sway, as those above you don’t want more people jailed as we have filled the prisons with the ‘worlds’ finest, and now, no longer have room for our own.
So people like this, who are safe in low crime areas, care little about what happens to the rest of us, as crime grows more violent, so long as they please their superiors and keep their lucrative position and pension, why ‘would’ they?
We have enough self serving politicians. Westminster and the House Of Lords retirement home for non achievers.
