The Isle of Wight Council and Amey have confirmed that Lynnbottom Tip at Downend and Afton Marsh tip in Freshwater will remain open during the second national lockdown, which comes into force today (Thursday).
Earlier this year, when the Island was first thrown into an almost complete lockdown in a bid to control COVID-19, the tips were closed to all visitors.
A council spokesperson has now confirmed that the tips – or recycling centres as they are known – will remain open this time around, although entry is via pre-booked appointment only.
Islanders are being advised to only travel to household waste and recycling centres if it is essential and if your waste is posing a risk to your health, the local environment or a risk of injury.

- Monday, Saturday and Sunday.
- 30-minute slots from 10:00 to 17:00.
Lynnbottom:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- 30-minute slots from 10:00 to 17:00.
