Human Utopia, a company of inspirational speakers running workshops for young people, has had a substantial influence on both staff and students at Cowes Enterprise College over the last few months. The company was brought into the academy to enrich students and assist their development as strong and self-assured individuals.
Human Utopia led each of year group at CEC in a variety of activities which encouraged them to take active roles within their community and develop a deeper emotional understanding of one another.
Pupils were also encouraged to become ‘Heroes’; enabling them to work with other year groups and represent the school with Human Utopia. Many students became Human Utopia Heroes, but Mitchell Hamer (pictured left) stood out as a star 6th Former throughout the programme.
He said:
“I started my experience with Human Utopia feeling a little sceptical. However the workshops changed my mind so much that I want to work with them in the future. I saw their work with my year group and the rest of the school and I would love to be a bigger part of that”.
Mitch has since applied for a summer job with Human Utopia and everyone at CEC is wishing him the best of luck.
Staff also had the opportunity to work with Human Utopia and learn more about how it made a positive impact within the college community.
Head of the Creative Faculty, Mr Sanchez-Brown, said:
“It was really valuable to get feedback from students and staff alike, and to see the positive impact Human Utopia had on everyone at the school.”
“We can’t wait to be working closely with Human Utopia in the near future. On behalf of everyone here at the academy, we would like to thank all who supported our work with Human Utopia and of course a huge thank you to the workshop leaders. Our students were a complete credit to us during their time with Human Utopia and we are incredibly proud of their conduct throughout the programme.”
