Leonardo DiCaprio, Juliette Moore and Eddie Redmayne weren’t the only stars at the recent BAFTA awards, as Ryde resident Toby Bonnett played his own part in making the evening a success.
Toby, a student at the Edge Hotel School at the University of Essex, was working at the after party at the Grosvenor House hotel in Park Lane, London, where he served the celebrities as they partied into the night.
Toby, who went to The Portsmouth Grammar School, explained how this memorable evening came about:
“At the Master Innholders General Managers’ Conference 2016 I listened to Jonathan Scoble, newly appointed conference and banqueting beverage manager at The Grosvenor House hotel talking about his time on the MIH aspiring leaders diploma. Seeing him as a potential role model I approached him.
“I admire Jonathan as he is a young hospitality leader within the conference and banqueting sector at Marriott’s Grosvenor House Hotel. When I complete my hotel management degree my aspiration is to join Marriott’s graduate scheme.”
Jonathan invited Toby who is studying for a BA (Hons) degree in hotel management, to work with him at the BAFTA’s after party, an experience Toby will never forget.
Toby added:
“I was able to work with celebrities such as Brian Cranston, Steven Spielberg, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Tom Hanks, Eddie Redmayne, Julianne Moore and many more, which was breathtaking”.
