Staff shortages at Christ the King College mean that a large number of students are being forced to work from home for the next 3 days.
Year 10 students have been told this afternoon (Tuesday) that they will be switching to ‘remote learning’ for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week.
Graham Wilson, Head of School, has written to parents to say that the college has reached the threshold of staff absence, which necessitates the year group working from home. It’s said that the number of staff available is not sufficient to provide a safe environment for the whole school.
A package of online learning, including a timetable, will be sent out on Wednesday morning. Students will be able to access their work via Google Classroom and should manage their time and complete work set as if they were in school.

Just the mere ‘start’ of all our children getting a poor deal, with remote learning, not having the same benefit, but once adopted for ’emergencies’ how long before it becomes main stream.
Yet the very rich will have no issues at private schools, fully staffed and equipped, and the total opposite end of the spectrum will have ever more cash thrown at them, with helpers to literally spoon feed them and give them ever more in the vain, pointless hope it will make them ‘useful’ instead of useless. For that one in a hundred who may, the cost would be better spent on normal students where one in a hundred ‘won’t become a decent and useful citizen.
All it does it impoverish normal decent working people as we fund this lower spectrum growing amount, now from all corners of the Earth, whilst we pay more and get less ourselves.
We need to consider removing this council, who, being at the upper end, care NOTHING for those in the middle.
No one is at a certain advantage with this, everyone is in the same boat. Being rich does not exempt you from catching an incredibly contagious virus.
This literally has nothing to do with the council, considering most teachers are middle-class themselves, they are working at home because the app told them to, and they legally have to do so.
Sticky, your statement “Being rich does not exempt you from catching an incredibly contagious virus.”
That is the ONLY reason that Governments are pouring so much effort, and cash into finding and supplying a vaccine. As for ONCE, they cannot ‘buy’ their way out of problem, or move their way from issues, as they do with low end im migration, crime, overcrowding, and other issues that they leave the rest of ordinary people to live amongst or deal with.
As they are equally affected, then they have bankrupt nations to save themselves, but you can rest assured they will not be the ones suffering cut backs to rebuild.
This could become the normal soon, as cost are reigned in for mainstream schools.
Yet watch the useless ne’re do wells get given ever more, despite the majority never contributing anything but even more clones to society for them to keep for their entire lives.
This will no doubt be the first of many schools to suffer staff shortage “due to the spread of virus within the school community”, Close the schools now so ALL pupils and staff can work remotely in safety, and not spread it further to the wider community, and older relatives.
Nothing to suggest that it’s due to Covid 19.
That’s the implication but it could just as easily be bad management.
Well….. it is. Teachers were off because the app told them to, they legally have to stay home.
