SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM TO EXPAND AFTER BUSY YEAR

wightsarsainsburysThe Isle of Wight’s volunteer search and rescue team, WightSAR, are looking to expand following a busy 2014.

The lowland search and rescue team were deployed a total of 15 times to 10 separate incidents last year, with an additional 3 standby requests that never materialised to a callout.

With a population size on the Island of just over 140,000 residents, WightSAR is one of the busiest lowland SAR teams in the country per population size.

Now, the team are looking to recruit a further 8 search technicians this year to help provide the 24/7, 365 days a year service to the community.
