SNP MP, Brendan O’Hara, provoked heated exchanges in Westminster this week by labelling Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely as ‘far right’ during a debate on the modelling used to justify the COVID-19 lockdowns.
Brendan O’Hara, while pointing at Bob Seely, said:
“SAGE officials, scientists and medical staff have done a remarkable job to keep us all safe, and many people across these islands owe their lives to them. I believe that the work that those people have done under enormous pressure should be applauded and appreciated, not undermined by the far-right libertarian Tories we have today.”
Bob responded by shouting: “Shame!”
The Chairman of the meeting, Edward Leigh, then address the Island’s MP and said: “Bob, will you calm down please”. Mr Seely replied: “I do not appreciate being called far right”.
Brendan O’Hara responded by claiming that Bob Seely had twice called him a ‘fool’ in the past.
The clash occurred after Bob Seely again questioned the science behind the lockdowns on Tuesday.
Bob said:
“[The] claimed benefits of lockdown appear grossly exaggerated. I am not a lockdown sceptic, but I am becoming so. We have had hysterical forecasts, models taken out of context, and worst-case scenarios normalised.
“To sum up in one sentence how we got this wrong, we have effectively taken the most dangerous course of action and collectively—the politicians, media, scientists, and health professionals—presented that as the most likely course of action, but it was not.
“Why did politicians say, “Follow the science” as a way of shutting down debate, when we know that science is complex and that our outputs are dependent on our inputs? It was down to public-health types, whose defensive decision making would only ever cost other people’s jobs, other people’s health, other people’s sanity, other people’s education, and other people’s life chances.
“The BBC and the Guardian have been salivating at state control and doomsday scenarios. Against this tsunami of hysteria and fear, thank God for The Spectator, The Telegraph and, yes, the Daily Mail for keeping alive freedom of speech and putting forward an alternative, which is now being increasingly scientifically vindicated.”

Wow, i never thought the day would come when I agree with bob. Good on him
Throw out the red meat Bob, wobbly voters are ready for it. Best way out of the turmoil
Bob – People do not call you things unless justified, try looking in a mirror and do some reflections on your past performance and achievements instigated by yourself and not following party line threads of thought.
Sounds as though Bob’s got it about right, certainly regarding the BBC.
Well, we all know Mr Seely’s extensive and impressive scienbtific credentials.
Is it really news that Bob is far right?
Good for you Bob, being accused of being a far right Tory, well I am speachless, how dare you stray from being a boring middle ground centralists
And this comment coming from the SNP ! Which on a personal level I am sick and tired of, wee man syndrome.
It is the English tax payers that keep the brave heart brigade fed and watered. Can’t wait for north sea oil to run out, then they will have an excuse for having that giant chip on your shoulders.
It’s not the far right we need to worry about these days……It’s the Far Left, they absolute fantastics and violent should you disagree with their ideology..
Oh Bob, of course lockdown worked, the problem was unlocking too early in the first lockdown. He says he is not a lockdown sceptic, only because he wasn’t able to have a few more BBQ’s. The only scandal here is the fact that ‘ol Sausage Bob still our MP. Pick and choose your facts to suit your own ends, and I think Bob can see the end of his tenure as the MP for the Isle of Wight.
What basis do you say lockdowns work? Lockdowns 1 and 2 were introduced 8 days and 7 days respectively AFTER we had hit the peak and cases were already dropping.
This 3rd wave hit its peak on 4th January with over 218k cases. Since that time case numbers have halved, all WITHOUT a lockdown in sight and with Omicron being more virulent.
To say lockdowns work is a stretch with no evidence whatsoever.
If he’s far right then he is in good company with most that comment on Island Echo .
Sadly.
of course he likes to appear far right else the old whinging bigots that form the majority on the island wouldn’t vote for him.
Well done Bob! Shame on the fool for calling you a libertarian far right Tory! Talk about word salad nonsense.
Thank you Bob for speaking out and pity more MP’s are not but when you said was that the government ‘acted on modelling’ they did not. They are working to a pre prepared plan. All linked with control, green agenda, new world order. There is so much evidence out there to explain this.
According to the ONS the number of UK Deaths from Covid alone during 2020 and the first three quarters of 2021 was 17,371 The average age of death for people who died within 28 days of a positive covid test in 2021 was 82.5 years. See below for informed oppinion and discussion.

In other news: water upset and offended at being called wet…
Maybe that is why Bob himself broke Lockdown rules.
Lockdowns are not the answer in future, they have caused more problems.
Why is a Scottish MP speaking on a purely English matter when Scotland is going its own way on Covid?
