Santa will be returning to Havenstreet this Christmas for his extremely popular festive visit to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, but safety must come first.
This year the Steam Railway have taken every precaution to ensure families have a safe Christmas experience, all while maintaining the same Christmas magic. Family’s will travel in style, with exclusive use of their very own cosy carriage on board the steam train. With limited availability, tickets are expected to sell out.
In keeping with the Railway’s heritage, this year’s visit to Santa will be a more traditional affair. With a fruity mocktail, mince pies and a distinctively Victorian feel about the whole event, Santa will be taking up residence inside one of the beautifully restored carriages in Train Story, the Railway’s undercover, interactive museum.
Steve Backhouse, IWSR’s General Manager said:
“This year has not turned out how any of us expected. Here at the Steam Railway we have endeavoured to bring visitors safe and enjoyable events and experiences since reopening in July. Our Santa Specials are no different. We have various hand sanitising stations around the site, encourage social distancing and ask visitors to wear masks when inside.
“This year we are allocating family groups their very own carriage to make the experience safe and enjoyable.”
Steve also took the time to reassure those booking tickets:
“In these uncertain times, passengers can book in confidence with the guarantee of a full refund in the event that government restrictions continue beyond 2nd December, or if a member of your party was required to self-isolate. Alternatively, if lockdown continues a little longer into December and you would still like to visit Santa at the Railway, we will do our best to accommodate visitors on a later train that month.”
This year’s event will commence on 5th December and booking is absolutely essential.
