A Ryde Primary School still requires improvement according to a recent Ofsted inspection.
Greenmount Primary School on St Vincent’s Road was visited by Ofsted before Christmas and inspectors found that the school still requires improvement with pupils not achieving high enough standards in reading and mathematics, with progress rated as not good enough in both subjects.
The school, formally located on Green Street, was first rated as requiring improvement in March of last year.
December’s inspection also found that the work pupils are given is often not challenging enough and too many pupils say that the work is easy. Disabled pupils and those with special educational needs do not make good enough progress, as do those students supported through pupil premium funding.
Despite the rating, Her Majesty’s Inspectors found that there behaviour and safety at the school is good and there is desire by teachers to improve pupils’ attitude towards learning.
