2 of the main Post Offices in Ryde have been forced to close due to a lack of staff.
Members of staff at McColls on Union Street and Mellishes on the High Street are having to self isolate, which means there are not enough staff to open the counters at this time.
It is anticipated that the Post Offices will remain closed for at least a week and may be operating reduced hours once re-opened.
Other businesses are expected to be hit by staff shortages in the coming weeks as more and more people are told to self-isolate with the number of cases of COVID-19 skyrocketing.
Do something about the selfish drug users and alcohol abusers who go around mask free, they are everywhere in Ryde. People afraid to ever speak out against any of them for far too long. No wonder it is spreading, they are always in and out of the shops buying booze and baccy and ciggie papers.

Most of the staff at McColls don’t bother with masks so why would they refuse entrance to someone without a mask. It’s no surprise that the place has cases

It’s not just Ryde that has this constant problem, Sandown has major problems with these selfish idiots too, all seemingly in the same sex and age group as well. If there was even the slightest police presence on the island and they issued a few £200 fines to them eating into their cannabis fund then perhaps they will do as the rest of us have to
I haven’t seen a single shop enforce masks. Not only is it a disgrace but stupid on the shops behalf – they could at least charge people for a mask at the till and make some money while making the world safer!
This now underlines the folly of the Post Office closing the ‘old’ dedicated post offices and having them incorporated into independent businesses.
If there had still be two ‘real’ post offices, they could have moved staff around to at least keep one open.
… which means if You are with British gas on a pre pay meter, You can’t get any gas. Had to get engineer out to top up my m meter ?!

As Santander closed their branch in the High Street I have had to use the post office . Not much use to me now. Will have to wait and see when and if they reopen
