A community reward of £175 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the destruction of new play equipment at Steyne Park in Bembridge.
Firefighters were called to the recreation ground off Steyne Road at around midnight on Thursday night into Friday morning after a play boat was set alight and destroyed by the blaze.
Police are investigating the incident but have so far made no arrests.
£50,000 was granted to Bembridge Parish Council through the People’s Millions fund to improve the park earlier this year.
Local residents and businesses have been outraged by the act of arson on the children’s playground and are continuing to add to the reward pot.
Anyone with information should contact the Bembridge Parish Council on 01983 874160 or Neighborhood Prevention Team on 101 quoting 44150380482.
