Following the success of last year’s event, Red Funnel has announced it will again be supporting the Cowes Antiques and Collectors Fair, organised by the Isle of Wight branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND).
The fair, which is MND’s 11th annual event, is being held at Northwood House in Cowes on 22nd February.
The Isle of Wight is a hotspot for people looking to pick up antiques, and items on sale at the fair will include quality furniture, silver, jewellery and, for the first time, there will be a dedicated room for militia, including trench art, memorabilia, medals and coinage. As well as this, a representative from auctioneers Hose Rhodes Dickson will provide free valuations in Northwood House’s library room.
The fair is an annual tribute day to Mavis Summerfield, who sadly died of MND in 2002, and is run by her two daughters, Doreen Gant and Jennie Lewis, who both live on the Island and are members of the MND IOW branch committee.
Jonathan Green, Marketing and Communications Director at Red Funnel, said:
“We’re very pleased to support the Cowes Antiques and Collectors Fair which is in such a good cause. The fair was a great hit last year and very well attended, so to help as many people as possible discover the Island’s treasure trove of antiques we’re offering mainland residents the chance to experience the fair by travelling for just £12.60 for two people”.
“Just by attending the event, people will be helping to raise much needed funds. All the money from the entrance door goes directly to the charity to help people on the island living with this awful disease.”
The Cowes antiques and collectors fair starts at 10:30 on Sunday 22nd February and costs £2 per adult. Accompanied children are free of charge.
People travelling from the mainland will be able to travel to the Isle of Wight for £12.60 return for two on the Red Jet. They can also park all day in the Triangle Car Park in Southampton for just £5. See www.redfunnel.co.uk/antiques for further details.
