Staff at Red Funnel had a good reason to give into temptation after their coffee morning raised over £700 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The coffee morning was organised by the company’s HR department and five members of staff worked hard throughout the week to bake the delicious cakes to sell to colleagues at the Bugle Street head office. Staff were encouraged to donate what they could for a treat alongside their usual teas and coffees.
The HR team also held a raffle to increase the amount going to the worthwhile cause.
Shirley Anderson, HR director at Red Funnel, said:
“Macmillan is a cause close to a lot of our hearts and what better way to raise money for them than eating cake? I am so impressed by the generosity of our staff, from those who baked to those who donated. The amount we have raised in one morning is incredible.”
The Macmillan Coffee Morning is the biggest of its kind and this year alone has raised over £12.7 million pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support. The event has been held annually since 1990. Macmillan aims to reach and support everyone who is diagnosed with cancer, providing them with advice, community groups and funding specialist nurses.
