Cowes Harbour Commission has announced the appointment of Phil Hagen as Chair of the Board of Commissioners.
Phil takes up his new role on 1st May, succeeding David Riley.
Phil started his career in the telecoms and IT sector. As a senior executive, he was responsible for many large international projects and multi-functional teams. In 2009, he changed course to focus on behavioural science, recruitment, and people development, qualifying in occupational psychology.
Phil is the founder and chief executive of SalesMatch, a successful psychometric assessment tool for the sales and contact centre sector. He joined Cowes Harbour Commission as a commissioner in May 2020.
With professional experience in personnel development coupled with an interest in sailing, Phil’s goals for his three-year term are to embrace diversity and to see the Harbour leading in environmental and sustainable initiatives.
A Cowes resident for 18 years, Phil says:
“Being a commissioner is a very rewarding role that can make a tangible difference to Cowes Harbour and the twin towns of East and West Cowes. The Commission has a very positive and committed team under the leadership of CEO Gary Hall, and I felt this was a perfect opportunity to use my commercial experience to support the team in delivering for the local community.”

“After six years as chairman, I am pleased to be handing over to Phil Hagen with the Commission in good condition and looking to the future.”
Cowes Harbour Commission manages the harbour for the benefit of all harbour users, with a vision to ensure that Cowes is a thriving port that is fit for the future. As well as managing port safety, the Commission provides moorings for leisure boats in the Harbour and River Medina, Shepards Marina in Cowes, and Kingston Boatyard in East Cowes.
