Over £3000 has been handed over to Cowes-based UKSA following the official charity premiere for Star Wars ‘The Force Awakens’, which was hosted by Wight Fibre at Cineworld in Newport last month.
A cheque for £3058.15 was last week presented by WightFibre CEO John Irvine to Ben Willows, Chief Executive of UKSA.
The sum reflects the donations by 200 specially invited guests to the event together with proceeds from the Charity Auction where the lots included a pair of VIP Bestival Tickets, a Star Wars Storm Trooper Helmet and rare 35mm film cells from the original Star Wars film.
The total raised so far of £3,058.15 is expected to increase as further donations from the event are received and gift aid proceeds are added to the total.
