Osborne House in East Cowes will once again feature on the television today (Friday) on BBC Two’s new series ‘What to Buy and Why’.
Today’s episode of the show uses Osborne as a backdrop to test some of the newest consumer goods. In the series presenter Cherry Healey enlists the help of top industry experts to get the inside track on the latest products and help save money by showing how to shop like a professional.
In the programme, which broadcasts on BBC Two tonight at 20:30, Cherry enlists the help of professional photographer Christopher Ison to compare smartphones and cameras using Osborne as a testing ground. The team of English Heritage gardeners who look after the beautiful grounds of Osborne House also road test the latest gardening equipment including rechargeable lawn mowers. This involved a number of trials including mowing the grand and vast Durbar lawn alongside Osborne House.
Bryn Jones, English Heritage’s Marketing Manager for the Isle of Wight says:
“Although the programme is a consumer products testing show, and not the usual type of filming we have at Osborne focussing on the history of the seaside royal home, the ‘What to Buy And Why’ appearance is really good advert for the property and the Isle of Wight – using the stunning vistas, gardens and beach as a backdrop in which to test lawnmowers and smartphones.
“Our gardeners really enjoyed being part of the programme and sharing their expert gardening knowledge.”
