“Come along and be surprised…” This is the message from staff at Earl Mountbatten Hospice as they prepare to launch a new initiative to enable Islanders to get a real insight into the much loved charity.
‘Open House Fridays’ will give the wider community the chance to have a tour around the building and hear first-hand from hospice staff about how the building is becoming a real hub for Island residents to socialise, learn and be inspired. Visitors will also be able to find out more about volunteering, fundraising and all of the services the Hospice provides on daily basis.
CEO Nigel Hartley said it was important for the community to feel they can walk through the doors of the Hospice and not feel worried or concerned about what they may find…
“This is such a positive and uplifting place and we need to break down barriers which may stop people from seeing the ‘real’ Earl Mountbatten Hospice,” he said. “Everyone who visits is pleasantly surprised by the facilities and the atmosphere here and we want people to learn that we are so much more than a hospice. It will also be an opportunity for visitors to hear more about our plans for our 35th anniversary in 2017, which will be an exciting year for the Island community.”
The first ‘Open House Friday’ event takes place on 29th April, from 10:00-12:00. Subsequent tours will then be held on the last Friday of each month. Places are limited and booking is advisable – contact Erika Campbell-Burt on 535332 or email [email protected].
