The Isle of Wight branch of the Country Land and Business Association (CLA), which represents landowners, farmers and rural businesses, has elected Susie Sheldon as its new Chairman.
Susie Sheldon is a Deputy Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight and owns and manages Kings Manor Farm at Freshwater with her husband. The 650-acre arable and sheep farm has diversified into holiday lets and tourism and also established a solar operation. Susie and her husband also run a yacht chandlery and general store in Yarmouth.
After qualifying as a chartered accountant, Susie worked for KPMG in its small business unit before running her own accountancy practice. She is a former High Sherriff of the Isle of Wight and current Chairman of the Isle of Wight Sports and Recreation Council.
Susie has been a member of the CLA’s Isle of Wight committee for the past seven years and succeeds John Harrison as Branch Chairman.
Commenting on her election, Susie said:
“As Chairman, I hope to increase the involvement of local members in CLA events, both on the Isle of Wight and nationally and to encourage greater sharing of expertise and knowledge. Landowners, farmers and rural businesses make an important contribution to the Isle of Wight’s economy and I look forward to representing their interests during the months ahead.”
