After a massive renovation project, a brand new boutique bed and breakfast is set to officially open in Freshwater Bay next week, ready for the 2016 season.
New owners and proprietors, Paul Mocroft and Adam Tucker have spent the last 20 months breathing life back into their once grand Victorian property by transforming it into The Bay Boutique Bed and Breakfast.
Paul said:
“The last time the house was touched was in the 1980s and was in a tired state. We pretty much ripped out everything that wasn’t original and started again.
“We wanted to enhance any period features that still remained, but to make the house fit for the 21st century and to do so in an environmentally sustainable way.”
Solar panels have been installed for electricity and hot water, all lighting is from LEDs and many items have been reused and recycled during the restoration. This, combined with other environmentally friendly practices the new owners have adopted, resulted in a Gold award from the Trip Advisor’s Green Leaders programme.
Paul and Adam had restored properties in the past, but a redundancy for Paul meant a relocation to the Isle of Wight and taking on their biggest challenge yet.
Paul explained:
“I’ve been holidaying on the Island since I was a small child and after suddenly losing my job and starting a family of our own we felt it was the perfect time to live on the Island permanently. We can’t imagine wanting to move back to the mainland now and look forward to welcoming many more people down for holidays to enjoy everything our beautiful new home has to offer.”
An open house is to be held on Friday 11th March from 14:00-16:00.
