The annual Memorial Ploughing Match, which was due to take place in April, has been cancelled.
Organisers have confirmed that the event, sponsored by Red Funnel and held in aid of WightAID, will not be taking place in 2020.
A wet start to the year has made for less than ideal conditions and the forecast shows an unsettled 3 weeks ahead.
As well as the weather, the ongoing situation with coronavirus is a factor in the decision to cancel the event.
In a statement, organisers have said:
“Our main priority [is] always the safety and health of all our participants, external supporters, volunteers and visitors [and therefore] we have made the decision to cancel the event”.
