McDonald’s has confirmed that is has closed all of its restaurants in the UK that don’t have a drive-thru or McDelivery service.
Islanders are now unable to walk into the McDonald’s outlets in Newport or Ryde for takeaway or dine-in meals.
However, the drive-thru at Brading Road, Ryde remains open around the clock. It’s thought that deliveries are also available from Newport via Uber Eats.
10 months on from the start of the pandemic and customers are still awaiting the return of the much-loved breakfast wrap…
Paul Pomroy, McDonald’s CEO UK and Ireland, has said:
“Following the latest government announcements, our restaurants will remain open for Drive-Thru and McDelivery services and Click & Serve for Drive-Thru which is available via the My McDonald’s App.
“Our dine-in and walk-in takeaway services will be temporarily unavailable while we take time to review and reassess our safety procedures with an independent health and safety body. This is a temporary change in our operations to allow us to test and validate any additional measures that may further enhance the safety of our takeaway service.
“We will continue to keep customers updated via the My McDonald’s App and our website”.

How about the healthier option. Don’t Drive-Thru just drive past.
And keep driving to the healthy take-away. That big gap in the market!
Many thanks to the Island Echo for the great image and the write-up. While other Island businesses pay for their advertising poor old McDonalds get it for free!
Go on, give it a try …. with everywhere else closed and no traffic you’ll be there in no time …
Everywhere else close no traffic your kidding ain’t ya
How about letting people have choice?
You are perfectly entitled to do that if you wish,
Don’t know why you chose to tell us your intentions, Obviously think we are interested in your opinion.
Thank goodness for McDonald’s.
The starving children who’s parents choose to spend their extra covid benefits and winter allowance on drink, drugs and fags, can now feed their children a substantial healthy meal and still have change to top up their iPhone.
I thought people were being asked not to drive anywhere unnecessarily!!
It’s food, and it’s their choice, not yours
If they were so worried about your health… they would not let you eat this unhealthy food…is it really about the virus?
It’s not unhealthy if eaten in moderation, as part of a balanced diet. As for myself I wouldn’t touch it with a bargepole!
That’s great, Brading Road is going to become a car park again with all the chav’s queueing for their “Macky D’s”.
about time the police stopped the queueing, that road gets blocked often with the obese chav’s.
half hour in the que last sunday, trying to get to tesco.spent less time doing the shopping. 🙁
Just shut the rank place and prevent obesity.
At least the car park can’t be Full of chavs……..
wouldnt feed its food to my dog
Forget the lockdown let’s do an essential journey to buy some crap food and get even fatter because we can’t do anything else. What a joke! Get out for a walk in the fresh air instead and actually get fitter and healthier. Ideal opportunity now.
