The Isle of Wight played host to members and families of 3 mainland Male Voice Choirs last weekend.
On Saturday the Island’s Newchurch Male Voice Choir were joined in a return concert with the Whitland Male Voice Choir from South Wales. The concert was at the St John’s Church Sandown and, along with ‘Quintile Ensemble’, the full house were entertaind to a mixture of various songs and music.
Meanwhile at the Trinity Theatre in Cowes the Imerys Male Voice Choir, from St Austall in Cornwall were providing a concert, again to a full house.
On Sunday Newchurch were back in action when, with the Imerys Male Voice Choir and the visiting Solent Male Voice Choir from Havant, they performed a 3 Choir Concert in the All Saints Parish Church, Ryde. Again a full house were entertained with a magical mixture of songs and music.
The Church concerts had retiring collections and all the monies donated will go to various charities that the Choirs and the Church’s support.
Bob Cooper of the Newchurch Male Voice Choir said:
“To see the venue’s packed as we have this weekend, and to have so many visiting choirs, shows that, along with all the multitude of choirs who perform different genre’s of music, Male Voice Choirs are very popular.
“All the visiting choir members thanked the Islanders for their welcome over the weekend, and return invitations have been received.
“If any gentlemen want to come along and join our Choir we meet on a Friday evening between 19:25 and 21:25 in the village hall in Newchurch. All are welcome”.
