32 hardy Wellow residents turned out in sub-zero temperatures on Tuesday night to launch a new Wellow Residents’ Group.
The original idea came from the Chairman of Shalfleet Parish Council, Cllr Pam Broadhead, who said it would help Wellow residents if such a group could be formed.
Matters discussed included road safety, road surface condition, dark skies, planning policy and Age UK Adverse Weather Conditions supplies, which are available in Wellow village.
West Wight Ward Councillor, Cllr Stuart Hutchinson, himself a resident of Wellow, joined the group and gave invaluable advice and insight.
The group is ‘informal’ and has no constitution or affiliation. It is Chaired by Mrs Rosalind Neary with David Walter as Secretary. It was decided to hold one meeting per month for the next three
months and then review the frequency.
The next meeting is to be held on Tuesday 23rd February at 20:00 at the Wellow Literary Institute. All Wellow residents welcome. There are presently no membership fees.
