A section of the main route through Bonchurch is to be upgraded by Island Roads on Thursday (12th November).
The resurfacing of a southbound lane of the A3055 Leeson Road will mean the road will be closed between Smuggler’s Haven car park and Smugglers Haven Tea Gardens between 09:30 and 4pm at the latest on that day.
The diversion during the work will be St Boniface Road – Mitchell Avenue – Ocean View Road – Newport Road – Clarence Road – High Street – St Johns Road – Shanklin Road – Victoria Avenue – High Street
The work will greatly improve what is the worst section of the carriageway in this area. The targeted approach will ensure not only a smoother ride for road users but also that disruption is kept to a minimum.
Keith Gourlay, Island Roads’ construction manager, says:
“Much of the A3055 – the main road between Shanklin and Bonchurch/Ventnor – has been resurfaced by Island Roads in recent years but work is required at this specific location in order to keep the road up to the required standard.
“The limited nature of the work means, weather permitting, we should be able to complete it in a single shift but we apologise in advance for any local disruption caused and thank motorists for their understanding and co-operation”.

If it had been done properly in the first place this wouldn’t be necessary! What about trinity road that’s got to be one of the worst in ventnor but still not done.
My scooter and the glass bottles of beer in the storage box thanks you!
