LittleGlosterlifeboatchequeThe RNLI has benefitted by £767 following a well-supported pre-Christmas event staged at the Little Gloster on Gurnard Marsh.

Holly Cooke, who with husband Ben runs the award winning restaurant, handed the money over at Cowes lifeboat station. About half the sum was raised through donations and sponsorship attracted by the 20 or so people who braved the icy Solent for a swim. The remainder came from a raffle.

It was the second year the RNLI has benefitted from the pre-Christmas event.

Among the cold-defying swimmers were two Cowes lifeboat members, Andrea Vaughan and Patrick Moreton. And watching the challenge were four other crew members aboard the Cowes inshore lifeboat, Sheena Louise.

It was at a subsequent crew night that the money was presented in the boat-house to lifeboat operations manager, Mark Southwell.
