A grand tree in Rylstone Gardens, believed to be hundreds of years old, has fallen after strong winds battered the Island.
Much to the sadness of locals, the tree was found on its side yesterday morning (Tuesday) with its roots ripped from the ground after strong winds moved in on Monday night.
It is believed the magnificent tree will be worked on by contractors and taken away.
Rylstone Gardens is a peaceful and hidden public area in Luccombe, just past Shanklin Old Village and is home to Red Squirrels.
