Fireworks are set to take to the skies tonight (Wednesday) for the annual 5th November celebrations, with a number of events taking place across the Island.
In Arreton it’s not fireworks that will be an attraction, with a large bonfire set to be lit as hundreds of people crowd around. Entry to the event is just £1.50 with the evening starting at 19:00. Food and drink is available for purchase, with on-site car parking.
The beacon has been prepped today in readiness for Yarmouth’s celebrations, with a parade set to move off from The Square at around 18:00 before moving to The Common ahead of the fireworks being lit from a barge shortly after.
Meanwhile in Ventnor, The Spyglass Inn pub will be hosting their annual firework display from 19:30, which is free to attend. Island Roads are however reminding event-goers that Church Road, Shanklin will close in both directions at 19:00 resulting in a diversion through Wroxall and Whitely Bank.
On Saturday (8th November), The Woodman’s Arms in Wootton after hosting a charity fundraising night from 18:00. Live music, a Hog Roast and full bar will be available with hot drinks & of course a fireworks finale. Entry is free, however donations are requested towards The Brain Tumour Charity James Godsell Fund.
Also on Saturday, the Isle of Wight Community Club, Cowes are hosting a fireworks event starting at 19:00. The free-to-attend display will see the fireworks shoot to the sky at 20:00.
