Local authors Lucinda Blanchard and Mary Grand were at the Cowes Christmas Festival at Cowes Yacht Haven over the weekend selling their debut novels ‘Swaying’ and ‘Free to be Tegan.’
Island Echo previously featured mum-of-three Lucinda when she launched ‘Swaying’, which follows a young woman and her quest to have a daughter. It takes into account many points of view and emotions in the taboo world of gender selection.
Lucinda said:
“It was wonderful to meet people and talk about our novels. People were really interested in the fact that my book is set on the Isle of Wight. I even had someone who had bought the ebook on Amazon, but still wanted a signed copy of my paperback, which was lovely”.
The event was organised by Red Funnel and thousands of people visited on both Saturday and Sunday. Many stallholders attended and there was a food festival live cooking show along with Father Christmas.
Mary Grand added:
“It is the first time we have ever done a stall and it was a huge success. It was so busy, waves of people were coming in from the Red Jet every hour. We’d definitely like to do it again next year.
“It was lovely when people wanted to buy both of our books as Christmas presents, which we were discounting from £7.99 each to £15 for the two, then later on £14 for both. It was an amazing experience, we exceeded our expectations”.
Lucinda Blanchard’s and Mary Grand’s books are available from Amazon in paperback for £7.99 and ebook for £1.99.
