CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY READY TO DELIVERY GREEN ISLAND GRANT

Published at:

The local Green Island Grant, which can provide grants of up to £10,000 for a raft of eco-friendly measures including, insulation, double glazing, solar power and heat pumps, will continue to take enquiries throughout the new lockdown.

If a grant is approved, members of the construction industry are permitted to install measures – subject to government guidelines.

Not to be confused with the national Green Homes Grant, local traders are being contacted to deliver the local scheme, which could see in excess of £500,000 being spent with Island companies.

The Green Island Grant gives a great opportunity for Isle of Wight households to cut energy bills, keep warmer and reduce their impact on the environment. Measures that could help households save up to £600 a year on their energy bills. The scheme is aimed at those with a joint household income of under £30,000 and properties must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of E, F or G.

If the council administer the scheme then most of the money will be spent on “consultants” which will mean little left for actual improvements. And any that does will probably go to businesses owned by councillors. Another lose-lose scheme for the long-suffering public.

I spent weeks looking for a way to access the grant to improve my EPC and it was just brick wall after brick wall.(pardon the pun) I finally found someone to do the works and am now waiting for the grant application to… Read more »

It is all through a government team 2) The grant is not capped at 600,000 vouchers – it is estimated that about 600,000 homes will benefit from it, this is very likely way too low a number 3) The grant now runs until 31st March 2022 – this is the last… Read more »
